J & H #4

Authors Note: Jekyll speaks of his reasons for every little thing that he does. He explains the controlling of Hyde with the drugs, his will, and even his day by day processes. He also reveals that he would kill himself in order to keep Hyde at bay for eternity. It was a pretty risky move and a last resort, but he must have felt it necessary enough to do so.

You never really know a persons real personality until they are put into a sticky situation. They will react in a particular way that will show who they really are, and possibly even what they really think of you. In a moment of desperation, they will lash out at anything in their path until they fix the occuring problem, or they will sit back and let things transpire until they disappear. Hard situations can bring out the worst in people, and that is when they show their true selves.

Jekyll & Hyde #3

Dr. Lanyon has been thrown into the most precarious position. He was basically asked to help assist in the killing of Hyde. He was asked by Jekyll to bring s handful of specific items to him, rather, Hyde, so that he could basically kill himself. Once Dr. Lanyon gathered all the items, made his way to the theatre, and gave the items to Hyde, he was persistent on telling him that he wanted to stay and watch to see what happened, and he did. He saw the horrific death thrust upon Hyde, and the spiritual "reincarnation" of Jekyll. Dr. Lanyon witnessed probably the most bizarre occurence of his life, as well as the most terrifying. That is why he feels that he cannot bear to live anymore, especially with this memory singed into his brain forever.

Jekyll and Hyde #2

You never really know who you can trust, especially with your deepest, darkest secrets. They may be one person to your face, and possibly a completely different person behind your back. They can do just about whatever they want to do, as long as they dont get caught by you. If they do, then they are in a world of trouble. Your real friends would never do something to hurt you in any way, shape, or form, but someone who pretends to be your real friend wouldn't care if they hurt you, because you dont matter to them. You always need to keep an eye out for who your real friends are, and whoyou can trust.

J & H 1

In Jekyll and Hyde, written by Robert Louis Stevenson, the setting is not one of a bright a sunny day, but it seems to appear as a dark and down-trodden town, without any form or joy or happiness. There is also a bit of an eerie and spooky feel consistently amongst the people, more-so between Jekyll, Hyde, and Mr. Utterson. But there is also a creepy and scary feel that comes with the peculiar building, which just happens to catch everyone’s eyes.

All the characters speak of the house as a strange and haunting place, where supposed odd occurrences happen, but no one truly knows what is inside the building or who owns and takes care of it. But everyone is quick to make judgments on the place and make assumptions before they actually know anything, much like in the real world.

Dark words are used by characters to describe the house, such as: haunt, dead, mysterious, startling, mercy, and spirit, just to name a few. All the characters have bad feelings about the place, but there are very few individuals that know anything about the place. Although, some people have seen a man going in and out of the house at somewhat strange hours, leading them to believe that something suspicious is taking place there.

This can easily be translated into what we do in our lives. We make quick assumptions about things and “judge a book by its cover” without really knowing what is on the inside. Doing this blurs our vision and causes us to not be able to see the good things in life. We rarely focus on the good things and we dwell on the bad things, disallowing ourselves to be happy with what we have. We need to see past that blur and see the things that truly matter, like what’s on the inside, just like the people in the story need to focus what’s on the inside of the house, not on the appearance of the house itself.
